Music Ministry
"Be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and inspired songs. Sing praise to the Lord with all your hearts." Eph.5:18b-20
The music ministry has five components:
1) Life Stream Choir, 2) Family Liturgy Music Ministry (with an independent sub-structure), 3) Youth Music Ministry, 4) a number of cantors, 5) two organists plus several instrumentalists. About fifty people serve in this ministry, exercising their gifts in order to lead sung worship at every liturgical and paraliturgical celebration in our parish life.
The music coordinator has responsibility to:
> Select the hymns and acclamations for each weekend liturgy
> Set up schedules for cantors
> Find and see to it that every leader has the music he/she/they need
> Is liaison between musicians and priests regarding music needs and any correctives
> Is ex-officio member of and the music liaison to the Liturgical Commission
> Helps design prayer services such as Evening Prayer, Retreats, Penance Services, Marriage and Funeral Liturgies
> Researches and selects new music; conducts all correspondence regarding purchase of new music
> May be called upon for music teachings, workshops and rehearsals for sacramental programs
