WhyCatholic?Beginning next month, St. Agnes Parish will be offering a six-week program called Why Catholic? I would personally like to invite you to participate. Here's why:

What Is It?

Why Catholic? offers a journey through the Catechism and the Scriptures in a comfortable environment. The material covered includes Christian prayer, the basic tenants of our faith, an explanation of the Liturgy and the Sacraments, and Christian morality. Why Catholic? will be organized by setting up small groups of 8 to 12 that will meet weekly for six weeks in members' homes.

Why Should We Attend?

Do you long to understand fully the power of God's Word in your life? Or long to find ways to link your faith with your everyday life? Many Catholics have inherited the Catholic faith without knowing what it means to be Catholic. Some may not have been trained in a solid faith formation. Although many of us consider ourselves Catholic we would welcome the renewal of a clear Catholic identity that appreciates the unique basis, content, richness, and joy of our Catholic faith.

What's Next?

The first Why Catholic? session on Christian prayer will be held weekly between February 19 and March 31 on a day and at a time convenient for you. Signup Sunday is January 28/29 and you may register on-line here. Please pray for the success of this program.

Why Catholic? promises to be a powerful means of growth for each of us individually, as well as for the parish as a community. It also could be an opportunity to make this Lenten and Easter season one of the most unique and meaningful we have ever participated in. I support this process wholeheartedly and look forward to participating in the small Christian communities. I hope you will join me on this spiritual journey in the footsteps of Jesus.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Rev. Stephen B. Rock, Pastor
